The starting point for bringing real fiber to multiple areas at once. A single Ethernet input port and 4 plastic optical fiber outputs, each delivering 1 Gbps without fluctuations. It is the central component of the Gold and Premium kits, also available separately.

4 Gigabit POF outputs Plug-and-play True 1 Gbps on every port
1 Gbps on each of the 4 ports
1 RJ45 input + 4 POF outputs
Flexible configuration depending on the use case
Compact design, outside the wiring cabinet

What it’s used for

The ACT4001 is a plastic optical fiber switch that distributes a single Ethernet input across 4 independent fiber outputs. It is the component used by the Gold and Premium kits to cover multiple points in a home or business premises, and it is also sold separately to expand an existing network:

Main use

Distribute to multiple converters

It connects to the router (or another point on the network) via Ethernet and distributes the signal across 4 POF lines, each reaching a different Snap Data converter (ACT1001, ACT1003, ACT-2003…) in a different area of the home.

Alternative use

Installation outside the wiring cabinet

Thanks to its compact design, it also works well when placed directly in the area to be covered (shops, open-plan offices, classrooms), without needing to be installed in a technical cabinet.

Is it right for you?

Yes, if...

  • You already have a Snap Data network and want to distribute it to more areas
  • You need to bring real fiber to 3 or 4 different points from a single source
  • You’re an installer configuring custom POF networks
  • You’re looking for a plug-and-play device with no configuration required

A complete kit is better if...

  • It’s your first POF installation → Kit Single 1 Gbps
  • You want to cover up to 4 points with everything included → Kit Gold
  • You need up to 5 points with everything included → Kit Premium

What’s included

  • 1 Snap Data POF switch ACT4001 (1 input RJ45 + 4 Gigabit POF ports)
  • Built-in power supply and power cable

Destination converters, plastic optical fiber cables, and Ethernet cables are not included. If you are setting up a new network from scratch, a complete kit (Gold or Premium) will be more cost-effective.

Differences compared with other Snap Data converters

Model POF ports Ethernet outputs Typical use
ACT1001 1 1 Single source or destination
ACT1003 1 3 Destination with multiple devices
ACT-2003 2 3 Intermediate point or branching
ACT4001 4 (output, switch type) 0 direct* Distribute to multiple points at once

*The ACT4001 distributes fiber to other converters; end devices connect via Ethernet to each of those converters, not directly to the switch.

Technical specifications

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the ACT4001 and the ACT-2003?
The ACT-2003 has 2 POF ports and 3 built-in Ethernet outputs: it serves as an intermediate point that also provides connectivity to devices at the same location. The ACT4001 has 4 POF output ports but no direct Ethernet ports: its sole purpose is to distribute fiber to other converters in 4 different zones.
Do all 4 ports run at maximum speed simultaneously?
Yes. Each POF port delivers up to 1 Gbps steadily and without fluctuations, using 100% of the bandwidth contracted for each line, regardless of what happens on the others.
Do I need to configure it, or is it plug-and-play?
It’s plug-and-play: no prior networking knowledge is required. Connect the router to the ACT4001 via Ethernet, connect each fiber line to a Snap Data converter in its corresponding zone, and the network is operational.
Does it include the destination converters or the fiber cable?
No. The ACT4001 is sold as a standalone component: it includes the switch and its power supply. The converters for each point (ACT1003, ACT-2003…), POF cable, and Ethernet cables are purchased separately. If you’re setting up a new network from scratch, a complete kit such as the Kit Gold or Kit Premium is usually better value.
Can I use fewer than 4 outputs?
Yes. You don’t need to use all 4 ports from the outset: you can start with 2 or 3 connected zones and leave the rest free to expand the network later, without losing performance on the lines that are in use.
Why should I remove the dust protectors?
The protectors are only for transportation. Once the switch is connected to power, remove them from all ports, even if you’re not going to use them all at that moment, to prevent heat or moisture from accumulating in the connectors.
What if it doesn’t work in my case?
You have 14 days to return it. And if you have any questions before buying, write to us: we’ll confirm whether your case is compatible before you pay anything.
